After a long scramble up loose talus slopes, we near the saddle west of the summit.
The main peak is the highest point visible in this photo.
Another view of the peak. It is difficult to get a sense of size in these photos, but the flat wall in the center of this photo is probably 100’ tall. Also, the “4th class arete” noted above is the small nub just left of the main peak (not the rounded mass further left.) Click the photo for an enlarged view.
The photo to the left is that same arete as seen from the other side, near the summit. Much larger than it looks from below, we first climbed the front side of it, roped up and then downclimbed the back-side. Again, click the image for a much better view.
